The Fiilng and Payment Date For Personal Income Taxes and Returns Has Been Extended to
July 15, 2020
This extension includes the first quarter estimated tax payments. FYI No extension for second quarter taxes has been made. It is still due on June 15th.
This bill responds to the COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) outbreak by providing paid sick leave, tax credits, and free COVID-19 testing; expanding food assistance and unemployment benefits; and increasing Medicaid funding.
Many sectors of the economy have come to a virtual stand-still and millions of Americans have filed for unemployment as a result of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As a result Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). Among other things, the CARES Act is an unprecedented financial assistance package for small and mid-size businesses. Additionally it provides credits against the 2020 personal income tax for eligible individuals. These advance payments will be sent to people in April 2020. Eligibility for the advance payments will be based on the person's income tax return for 2019, or 2018 if the return for 2019 has not been filed yet.
